Advanced colorectal care
We offer patients a full range of services, tests and imaging options related to the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care of colorectal cancer. We perform colorectal procedures, including colonoscopies, for the prevention and early detection of cancer.
Colonoscopy services
A colonoscopy is the most commonly used colon cancer screening service. During a colonoscopy, a long, thin tube with a camera is inserted into the rectum. This allows doctors to gain a clear view of the rectum and large intestine to look for any abnormalities.
It is recommended to schedule a colonoscopy if you are fifty years old or older, or have a family member who has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
What is colorectal cancer?
Colorectal cancer usually begins as small polyps, or growths, in the colon or rectum. Although most of these polyps are noncancerous, some may turn into cancerous growths.
The following symptoms may be indicative of colon cancer:
- A consistent feeling to move a bowel
- A significant change in bowel movements (lasting two weeks or more)
- Abdominal cramps
- Dark or narrow stools
- Rectal bleeding
Colorectal cancer surgery options
If surgical care is needed, our highly skilled surgeons use the latest in minimally invasive procedures to remove colorectal cancers and reconnect intestinal tissue. These minimally invasive procedures mean patients experience less pain and a faster recovery.
