Varicose veins aren't always just a cosmetic concern but can also cause health issues and affect a patient's quality of life, including symptoms such as pain, aches, throbbing, cramping and swelling in the legs. Varicose veins can be diagnosed during an exam by your provider. Depending on the state of your condition, additional tests may be needed to determine if you may have a condition with deep veins.

Often, a combination of nonsurgical and surgical treatments can be used to treat varicose veins including interventions such as lifestyle modifications, wearing compression socks and injections. Varicose vein surgery can be performed using minimally invasive techniques to remove the varicose veins.
