About Appledore Family Medicine and Pediatrics – Portsmouth

At Appledore Family Medicine and Pediatrics in Portsmouth, we provide care to all ages, including newborns, children, teens, and adults, including the elderly. We offer patients a wide range of primary care services, including newborn care, children’s checkups, immunizations, adult physicals, treating new and acute injuries and illnesses, and chronic disease management.

We are also an academic medicine clinic as part of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Family Medicine Residency Program at Portsmouth Regional Hospital/Tufts University. This means our practice includes resident physicians as part of our team who are training to be the next generation of physician leaders. Our clinic accepts most commercial and private insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid. Discounts are offered to uninsured patients.

Our clinic is open for seeing patients Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Our phone hours are 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Diagnostic testing

Our office also offers diagnostic testing to help provide the most accurate treatment plan for patients. We provide a variety of diagnostic testing options for patients, such as:

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)—Used to measure the electrical activity of the heart
  • Pregnancy testing—A urinary or blood test used to determine pregnancy
  • Urinary testing- to look for infection or screen for sexually transmitted infections (STI)
  • A1C -finger stick blood test to screen for or manage diabetes
  • Glucose finger stick
  • Rapid flu testing
  • Rapid strep test (for strep throat)
  • Rapid RSV testing (pediatrics only)
  • Finger stick lead and anemia screening (pediatrics only)

Procedures we perform

Our primary care team performs procedures that help our patients maintain good health. Some of the procedures offered include, but are not limited to:

  • Cryotherapy for skin lesions and warts
  • Joint injections
  • Nexplanon and IUD insertion and removal
